I have a question for those of you that run hot shots or transport using your truck or truck and trailers. I own a excavation business here in Arizona and during slow times which is now, I would like to either use my truck to run deliver trailers or use my truck and 25k lb gooseneck to do transports or deliveries. However I have searched the internet and called local RV dealers asking if they are in need of any sub contract work and have been unable to find anything. Could any of you point me in the right direction as how to get started in finding work in transport or delivery? Thanks in advance... . Adam

What it sounds like is you want to lease on with a "Hot Shot" company. That'll give you the flexibility to work on your schedule. Check the phone book under trucking and start calling to see if you're a good "fit" for them, equipment and time wise. Bear in mind, there are significent expenses involved and they don't stop when you do. Insurance and tags (cab card) come to mind here. Good luck.

Check with some of the big RV transport companys, most will hire part time help. One of the best sounding ones is Horizon transport, they are a TDR advertiser. They have an awesome web site with just about any answer to any question. They will hire you for one day per week, to 7 days a week. The more you haul for them the more they take care of you and the more they pay. You can lease on from any location, but the good hauls are out of Indiana. They claim you can make about $95,000. 00 per year traveling about 2400 miles per week. I have seen big trucks work for less. There are several others I have checked on. Do a search of RV Transport on the web, you will find a bunch of them.

Thanks for the replies, and I already have all the DOT, registration, cdl, inspections and insurance to cover myself just not able to find work hauling.

If you buy a car hauler trailer you could haul cars back to the midwest. I know lots of car dealers that buy down in Arizona. Hauling cars is cake work too.
