Question for Joe D. Or Piers H. about timing.

I just received my miller timing kit and am about to set the timing to 16 deg. I have a copy of the Diesel Engine Timing page from Dave Fritz' web page. It states 6. 2mm plunger lift at 15 deg. Can I extrapolate the numbers to give 6. 4mm lift at 16 deg, or am I off base with my thinking?

95' 2500 standard trans. 2wd reg cab 120,000 miles bone stock but not for long I hope.
In my possession waiting to be installed, TST #4 plate kit, 370 Diamond B injectors, Afc spring kit, Gov. spring kit.
Now here: TST's fuel pressure adapter and 2 guage pillar mount
On order: SPA EGT/Boost guage
Still working with Houston muffler shop on the exhuast.

Don, according to my Bosch book CPL #'s 2023 & 2175 1996 215hp motors should be set at 5. 6mm lift for 16 degrees advance. The old 160hp auto's had a higher lift for less advance 6. 2mm = 15 degrees & that was only certain ones. for example CPL # 1968 another 160hp model is 4. 7mm = 15 degrees. A good rule of thumb is, 1/2 deg. of timing for every 1mm. pump lift.

The timing kit is MLR-6860, see if this link works 15. 5 is the best all round timing to shoot for.

Does anyone have the lift (mm) for 15. 0 degrees and 15. 5 degrees?

Fritz's site only goes up to 14. 5 and this thread only has 16.

Not sure if I want to go to 16 but sure want to be higher then 14. 5.

What do the experts recommend?

I got my kit from snap-on, it ran about 200 bucks.

Big DQ: If i would of known that you was need ing a timming kit, i could of let you borrow mine. I belive warrington is fairly close to the town of Linn? I have been going to school down there. I'm going to set my timming up today.

by chance you want to send your miller back i will meet you somewhere next week and let you use my kit to save some money?
