Buying Used Snowmobile...Which One???

I have a few questions now that my wife owns a 2010 jetta tdi now. Oil changes are included for 36000 miles at 10000 mile intervals. Are you guys really pushing it that long? Mileage is great and she loves the car. Are there any issues that are common? I welcome any other comments about the tdi. Thanks in advance.

I have an unheated garage so few times I changed sooner because winter was comming and I wanted to get it done while it was fairly warm out. Otherwise I do the 10,000 mile change. My wife runs alot of highway miles so I am not real concerned about the frequency. I do check the oil level regularly.

I have an '06 Jetta with the PD engine. First change was at 5k, second at 10k and 10k after that. I have had oil analysis done with each oil change, and they have all come back excellent. So you are safe with that interval provided you use the correct oil.

PS

Love the Jetta!

i use 5w-40 synthetic rotella t in my 09 it is available at wallmart. the wix filter is 57083, napa 7083, cq 84083, baldwin p74515

LFarmer,

My wife has a 09 Jetta TDI and just had the oil changed at 9800. She had talked to the tech at the dealer when the car had 5000 miles on it to see if it would be better to be changed at that point and he said NOT to change it that early. I do check the oil on a weekly basis and has always been right on the full mark.

Oil being used is the 5w40 synthetic VW Oil (I don't know who manufacturers the oil for them)

We both LOVE the car! Fuel mileage was consistently at 46 but has now dropped to about 38 in the cold weather. The high ambient temp was zero here today and got down to 33 below zero the past few nights. She is running #1 in it.

We own an 05 and going onto 80k miles. Great car/40mpg. I use amsoil that will go for 18-20k mile between oil changes but i reach the one year before the mileage so it gets changed on her birthday. I did have issues with oil seeping on ground in front of right wheel. After some research on tdi.com (great site for VW's) I understood it was the oil/air mist seeking the low point in the air induction cooler. I rigged up a home made oil seperator from pvc pipe that keeps the oil mist from entering the intake and the oil drips went away. This is a know problem and it causes a build up of oil sludge in the intake and causing turbos to go. Timing belt will be the next big cost for her car at about 100k.

Nothing wrong with 10K intervals although I'm a little surprised at that interval in a newer diesel. The emissions crap on our CTD brought OCI from 7500-15000 in the 04. 5-07. 5 to 3000 or less in the 6. 7s. But 10k is otherwise OK. I used 10K in our Jeep and I am aiming for that in my 06 if the UOA is OK.

On my sisters 04 TDI. for oil You need to use amsoil or factory oil as the stuff forsale in the us doesn't meet the specs. Not sure on the newer motors. Her oil is done every 10,000 miles also and the car has well over 100,000 now
