What I would like to know is, does the twist control on the dash for temperature cycle off the compressor by turning it up warmer or does it just blend hot air. This is for my 98. 5 dodge diesel. I would like to use it if it will reduce the time the compressor runs, but if not it seems more advantages to just cycle down the fan or change to top and bottom vents. If I have completely confused you sorry thanks for the input Ed

It does not reduce run time of compressor, it operates a blend door on 99 up and yours too I believe. If not then it just opens hot water control to the heater core. Could actually cause the compressor to run more. bg

Sorry to bring this thread up again but I have a question. With my temperature control it is all max heat or max cold no in between. If I understand the location and how the blend door works it should not be broken as I would not be able change from hot to cold but if not blend door what would cause this problem?

Sorry guys I did a further search and it does seem it is the blend door and most likely the servo motor. It also appears this requires dash removal to replace. If that is true might as wel change AC condenser and heater core while there even though they are nto leaking. This all seem right to you guys?
