OK, so here's the question. I have 170K on my stock 48RE, 2004 DRW 3500, started hearing strange and evil noises from what I think is the TC. I'ts transmission time no doubt, so I started talking to ATS about Stage 1 and Stage 2 replacements. The guy I talked to was really pushing the Stage 2 because of the billet input shaft. The input shaft seems to be the only difference between the Stage 1 and 2. I will be pulling a GN of 10 or 12K but mostly a lot less than that 90% of the time.

So, do I really need to spend the extra money??? Is it really worth it?

They are offering a good discount for TDR members but $ are tight. The ATS guy said with their TC more strain would be put on other components, and the original input shaft would not be covered under the warranted parts.

Any suggestions?
