Anyone with a factory manual know the path of the brake wire for the trailer brakes from the brake module plug(blue wire) back to the factiry 7 pin connector?
I hookup up my brake module, and nothing back at the hitch. Brake module works, but no brakes. This is the factory wiring, too!
Mine is a '00 Quad Cab 4x4.

Fred,

What controller have you installed? The factory harness wire colors have caused some confusion.

If you're aware of the factory harness wire color issue and are certain that you've wired tyhings correctly, check the PDC fuse #8 (40 amps). If it's blown you won't have brakes.

The factory harness color codes do not match most trailer brake controler wire color codes.
In the bag that the factory interface harness was packed was a scematic that gave the wire color and circuit for each. You have to match the factory color and circuit with the coresponding circuit (not necessarily the same color ) on the brake controler.

Thanks for the replies. I'll check it tomorrow to confirm. I did see the label on the factory plug pigtails. That might be the only problem.
Is there a fuse on the wire going to the trailer brakes?

Fred

Have you checked the receptical at the hitch with a volt/ohm meter? Could be the wiring on the trailed receptical doesen't match.

Thanks all for the responses. It was a goof up from the dealer that installed the wiring harness for the towing package. The blue wire at the 7 pin receptacle out back came to the engine compartment and stopped. Pulled it through the firewall and connected it to the brake controller. Brakes work!
