I'm fairly new to this forum, so my question may have been dicussed in the past. Here in the state of Oregon, we have a government agency which is responsible for testing and keeping our environment clean via vehicle emissions. Thus far diesel engines are excluded. My question is if I where to do some power modifications to my Ram, and then at a later time the state includes diesels in there testing, would my emissions be better or worse if I leave it stock? I realize this is a loaded question, but I'm just looking for opinions in general terms.

It would depend on how they do the test. If WOT under load a hot engine would flunk big time. With other kinds of tests there would probably be no difference from a stocker. If your truck is supposed to have a cat or EGR and one or both are missing they could get your for that if they check for it. So far the tests I've heard about are about how much smoke it makes if you stab the throttle quickly. With a 12 valve you can probably control that with a star wheel adjustment.
