I have installed the Banks Git Kit and I had no problem with the installation. However there is something wrong. The Ottomind module has two LEDs. One is susposed to glow red with the ignition on. Then after starting, another green LED should light. It does not. Have any of you had this problem with the Ottomind. I've triple checked all my connectors. Guess I'll call Banks on Monday.

Thanks,
Bobby

<font color=blue>Can't help you on your problem because I don't know the "wiring" of the Ottomind, however after you call them please post here on how you were treated. They keep saying they are "trying to change" their customer service which they have lacked for many years. SO just curious how you'll be treated.

Thanks

I'll tell ya When I completed the powerpack install I gave 'em a call on the tech line and the guy on the other end was not only knowledgeable on the ohm readings input at temp for my pyrometer (had a fault in the harness and was not properly seated in the connector end that plugs into Mr ottomind sending bad egt readings to the box) but double checked readings on one in hand with a fresh out of the nuker cup o water and gave me readings on both ends of the scale 212-65 degrees.

Bobby,
The red LED indicates that the unit is receiving power and that means that the MAP sensor connections are proper. The absence of the green LED upon startup indicates that the lead connecting to the pump is not working. Double check the connection at the pump. If you haven’t called already, contact Tech Support at (888) 839-2700.

Peter,

Thanks for the info. That is exactly what I found out last night after talking to a person in your tech support. I was hooking up to the first connector I saw when looking toward the injector pump. There was a black wire there in the top, left position. However this was the wrong connector. The proper wires are further back and hard to see at first glance. I feel pretty stupid now.

I corrected this and the Git Kit is working fine now. Haven't played with it much but so far I am pleased.

Can you answer a question for me. It seems that the Ottomind only adds fuel when the pedal pressed half way or so. Is this correct? I actually like it this way. No extra fuel during normal driving so no extra load on the transmission. Then when I kick it down the fuel kicks in but the line pressures are higher in the auto transmission so there is less stress on the transmission. Am I correct?

I was pleased with your technical support. They were very willing to help.

Thanks,
Bobby

Bobby,
Your observations are correct. Under moderate acceleration, fuel delivery will begin at approximately 8 PSI boost, but with more aggressive application of the throttle, fuel comes on sooner (think of an accelerator pump on a carburetor). There are a few reasons for doing it this way including fuel economy improvement, emissions, drivability, etc.
