I definitely appreciate all the help everyone has given me on what I can do to make my truck work better for me!!! Since my last situation (truck (2002 dodge 3500 auto) wouldn't budge trailer) I have order a triple lock torque converter to be installed sometime this week. My question now is that my truck when first take off, if you get on it a little more than normal is rev's up then slambs into gear. I sure this is from the tc slipping trying to pull trailer out but not sure and was wondering if there is anything else I may need to do while putting in new triple lock tc. I had my transmission fluid and filter changed a couple of weeks ago and had the shift bands tightened to the 2001 specs because couldn't find any for 2002 and hadn't signed up here yet so couldn't ask anyone. Any advice is appreciated!!!!

The torque converter lockup is not supposed to come into play until about 35 mph with OD off and 45 mph with OD on.

Was the fluid change/band adj. before or after the trailer incident? If after, the fluid color/condition and debris in pan might have indicated trans. clutch burning/damage. I would get the trans. checked out before you put the new TQ in, might save another changeout. bg

Call ATS and tell them exactly what you posted here. It sounds to me that your transmission probably has other issues that need to be resolved. The torque converter and transmission work together as a team and you need to get both working right or you will not be satisfied with what you have already purchased. A great torque converter cannot compensate for deficiencies in a transmission.

I too think you have other issues, the TC only comes into play after you have been moving, it locks up somewhere around 45-50 mph. When the TC is slipping, you will feel it slip, the rpms go up and the speed doesn't. This generally tackes place on hills, or any area where you have to get on it. If you could not move your trailer, you have issues with gears, clutches, or bands inside the trany, or a complete pump failure. I would call ATS before I had anything installed, you can very easily ruin a new TC by pumping contaminated fluid into it.
