Question regarding mud flaps

I thought I would go to the experts before I relieve myself of more money. My question is this, I'm looking at installing the mopar heavy duty mud flaps not the moulded ones and I was wondering can you install them without removing the black plastic protective pieces already on truck? I would like to use existing screws and just bolt over top of said plastic pieces. Thank you for any tips or advice.

You need to post what truck you have and whether it's srw or dually. I put the heavy duty on mine and did not have to remove anything. 2014 srw.

These are what I got for mine, inexpensive and get the job done. I don't have a 4X though. I like the diamond plate design and they used the OEM screws. Made by Power Flow (big mudder extreme with stainless accents). Same on the front but smaller. Happy with them so far, they work for me.
