For the first time I got to see an 03 up close. It was my cousins truck. First thing I noticed was the ring on the intercooler boots. I am guessing it is to keep from blowing off the boot.



Is the boots the same part as pre 03's? Is that the reason for the rings(to keep the boots from being blown off)?



Nice truck... . didn't like the oil filter location... .

Your guess sounds as good as mine on the intercooler boots.

Oil filter is in the same location it's always been in. I remove the air filter to turbo snorkel to remove mine the way I did on my '95, '98 and '01. 5. You should try one. You'll like it!

It makes the boot more rigid. The soft boots collapse slightly and are more prone to poor seals. I'd upgraded my 98. 5 to the type of boot that's presently standard. Their available from most big rig repair shops.
