question's about Hella fog light bulbs

to those of you that use Hella fog lamp bulbs:

1..... do you have to change the whole light assembly?

2..... how much brighter are they?

3..... what do they cost?

4..... where can i buy them?



i went to a local speed shop and they told me hella dosn't make replacement bulbs i was told by another member that he runs hella bulbs. my head is spinning..... i have a fog light out now and want the best replacement available. PLease help ... . james

I just bought a set of Hella 450 foglamps yesterday for about $100. The bulbs were packaged separately and are standard 55W halogen bulbs. The kit came with wiring,relay and switch and a bunch of various connectors. I didn't need all the extras since I was replacing some cheaper lights. I use them as daytime running lights and have them come on with the ignition. I haven't been out at night yet but I think they will be pretty good.



These are separate lights mounted on my grill guard, not OEM foglights.

I run hella lights 550 driving but I've swaped bulbs in them and in the factory head lights to the Platnium series PIAA bright white bulbs best swap I've done. Try your local dealer for these if you can't find them contact me and I'll help you out.

The factory fog bulbs are 35 watts with a coated tip. Sylvania makes a bulb that is 55 watts and clear tip that slip right in. Forgot the # on the bulb though but they made a HUGE difference. But even that wasn't enough so I went with Piaa 510's in the factory location.

Just reread your post. Are you looking for brighter bulbs for the factory lights or you want to replace the whole light assembly?

were can i get some of those sylvania's? do you know the part#?also i'd like to get som PIAA platnum series bright white bulbs. where is the best place to get these?thanks... . james

They are Sylvania 886. You can get them at your local auto parts store. You might have to order them though. Nobody makes a super white for them unfortunately.

Oh BTW, they are 50 watts not 55 as I previously posted. Oo.
