Hi All,

I'm getting ready to install the nut kit that I bought from Standard Transmission. I don't have access to any specialty tools for installing the nut, nor do I have a spanner tool. Any suggestions on how to make sure the nut goes on tight and stays that way? Has anyone else used this nut kit from ST? There are no directions with it and I want to make sure I install it correctly. Also, the bolts on the tail shaft housing look like some kind of torx bolts, and I haven't been able to find a socket to fit, any suggestions?

Thanks... . Jeff

You need a 12 point socket for the bolts, not sure what size.

To put the nut on tight use a hammer and something for a punch, this will get it tight enough. I did mine that way and had no problems.

We did mine as tight as you can get it with a 3/4 drive impact and then drove it another 1/4 turn with a blunt chisel and a 3lb hammer and then staked it with a center punch and big hammer about 12 places and it still came off 6 mos later. Its going in tomorow for the full splined main shaft. I think the tail housing bolts are 12 point 12MM
