Hello DSorrells
DSE is Diesel Srecret Engery its a additive that you put in with kerosine/gasoline/ powerservice and vegatable oil. this is called blending fuel
SVO is Straight Vegatable Oil , new veg oil or veg oil neet
WVO is Waste Vegtable Oil , used veg oil.
the veg oil mixes with #2 just fine the % of veg oil to diesel fuel dependes on how cold it is where you are at dse is a mix of 87% veg oil and 13% petrol so its a little different than svo but at this mix any thing lower than 18 degs and you will be gelling but add in a small amount of Rug (reg unl gas) and it will be fine. the problem is not a big deal if you use your head. mixing the blend with #2 say 50/50 this will get you by for the most part. but the savings is not as good. heating the veg oil/ blend is easy and it works great
the post dse in trucks 04/05 ctd has a lot of info on this in it. yes I started it but the info in there is what problems I have had and what the outcomes have been.
the waste veg oil is a high acid oil thats from cooking in it I have had no problems with it for the 1 1/2 I have been running it.
the positive side is the engine is less nosiey/better smelling / and there is less smoke and its cheap my fuel cost is . 54 cents per gallon and it will get better mileage on veg oil than diesel. the down side the mods and the cost of doing the mods heated tanks/heated fuel pump the smarty tunner if you want the performance with blend fuel. and picking up the used oil. but i think its will worth the price to do it.
if you decide to do this or any other type of fuel in your truck read all you can about the type of fuel you want to use also everyone you tell what you are going to try will tell you that it wont work, but they cant tell you why.
if this didnt work I would have found that out some time ago right. and there are about 3 or 4 others that have started running a blend fuel of some sort after reading what has been posted. if not more
getting a good filtering system in place and using it all the time will save you a lot of problems in the long run. filter and filter and filter and then filter it some more.
hope this helps you
