Ok being that this is primatilary a diesel forum I figured I would put this question about my gasser in the alternative fuels section being that gasolene is alternative to diesel ;)

Ok here goes, I have a 92' Hyundai Excel with a 1. 5L 4 banger, now my problem is, it runs like crap but if I pull the number one spark plug off nothing changes but there is spark and fuel getting to that cylinder AND if I leave that plug out and try and run it it wont barley run. That cylinder has compression, But I havent checked it with a compression tester yet. (finger over the plug hole) DO you think it could be the compression leaking through the head gasket to the other cylinder causing it to fire or something???? Also that spark plug dont look like it was causing very many explosions (clean as a whistle) Someone please help I am stumped and dont feel like pulling the head for something stupid

If you pull #1 plug wire and nothing changes--then #1 ain't working as designed.

Air/fuel, spark, compression.

Air/fuel in proper ratio.

Spark at the right time and of sufficient power.

Enough Compression to allow combustion and capture the power thereof.

Clean plug sounds like it's not getting enough fuel. Otherwise a "dead" cylinder should have a nasty plug from the unburned fuel. Bad injector or injection system failing that cylinder?

Quantitative compression and spark values would be a great help. Put a scan tool on the thing.

Okay that's all the gasser work I'm doing this year.
