what size is the nut that holds the big ground wire to the back... . I notice I dont have a nut on mine when it started arcing after being reinstalled post KDP fix. I cant see for the life of me what that post looks like..... tight spot. If someone has an exploded view or knows the size -it would be very helpful... . as usual nothing in my random nuts+bolts bin fits.

thanks, Nick

Found one to fit, tightened it up good. However, while tighting the nut, I arced it to the oil filter, put a hole in the oil filter and ****** oil everwhere... . what a moron. Early oil change complete... Anyway, now my volt gauge wont go to 14 like it usually does, I wonder I messed something up --- somebody know? It seems like a stack of dominoes every time I open the hood. :(

Might not be charging at all now... Check the alt fuse in the main fuse box on the drivers side behind the battery. There is a 100? amp fuse there linking the alt and the batteries. Coulda toasted that... Possibly something went wrong in the alt, might want to take it to an alternator shop and have em put it on a test for ya. .

good luck. .

thanks tp0d, I work late tonight but Ill definately check the 100 amp fuse tomorrow morning, really hope I didnt toast my alt!

On my 94, that wire feeds the distribution center through a 120 amp fuse which connects it directly to the battery.

I doubt if the short caused any damage to the alternator. May not have done the bolt any good though.

Pretty sure its a 140 amp fuse and yes you probably burnt it. Alternator should be fine. Lots of folks have had a no charge situation after an oil change and the filter wrench contacting that hot lug is the culpret.

yeah you guys were right, definately smoked the 140 amp fuse. Just replaced it with the 8 dollar solution from dodge. Everything's back to normal. Thanks for the help - TDR comes through once again!
