I switched to AMSOIL series 2000 75-90 in my rear diff 3,000 miles ago..... does it already have the FRICTION MODIFIER in it? SOmewhere I remember reading that it did. WOnder if that might cause rear diff chatter in these new 3rd gens that don't require the additive. . THanks... :--)

Sorry, I did a search with different terms. Answered my question already!

Roper you're fine. I ran the same lube in my '03 for 31,000 miles without a hint of trouble. I doubt the 75w90 will accelerate wear or cause any other problems. I think American Axle's stance is you don't need lube with fricton modifier but it won't hurt to use it.

I used the Amsoil in my '01 and really liked it. So little wear there was NOTHING on the magnet after 30,000 mile oil changes (after the rear end was well broken in).
