I paid over $900 to get my defrost blend door problem fixed 2 years ago on my '03. Now this winter, something has gone wrong again. Perhaps another blend door busted up again? No heated air out of floor or defrost vents, just the dash vents. Did not want to pay another $900+ to get it fixed just yet since winter is almost over here in the South.

We had an ice storm this week and I really needed a defroster since I park outside. Spent $ 5 on some dryer vent and duct tape and made my own fix. Works like a charm, clearing the ice and fog away from wherever the vent is pointed. I can handle the goofy look for another month anyway. Guess I need to pay the money to fix it or trade in for another truck.

Does anybody know how to initiate a safety recall for this matter?

A truck without defrost in some of our climates is DANGEROUS

Their was a safety recall for a similar problem years ago at Kenworth

After ya defrost the windshield you could use that to Keep the Boys warm LOL :~) talk about mans Best friend :~)

nothin' wrong w/ that!! it's rediculous in this day and age to have the failures they're having with the blend doors. Automotive heat/AC systems have been out for what 40yrs now?

That's a good point. What ever happened to the old cable system? I'd prefer that to the fancy electric system they have now (which is admittedly 1000 times better than the vacuum systems that were once common).

I agree--bring back the old cable systems that a guy could work on himself much easier.

Or, if you're going to build an electrically-actuated module, make the thing easily accessible for maintenance and repair!

Do they even mention maintainability in engineering school anymore?
