Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Quick Oil Question

Its time for a oil change in my truck... This is also the first winter I have had it. In my gassers I usually drop to a thinner oil for the winter cold.

I was going to do the same for my truck... then I noticed the manual says I can run 5W-30, and what i was going to get was Valvoline Synthetic 5W-40. Would this be okay for the winter? It has the Cummins approval rating... But thought I would check-in with you guys first!

If it's the Premium Blue Extreme it's good to use. I just switched over to that oil about a month a go. I plan to run it year round. I'm also going from 5000 to 7500 mile oil changes. Jeff
