I have a 1999 3500 series and was wondering if it was normal for the antilock brake pump to run momentarily (a second or less) when first turning the key to the start position but not to the crank position. The pump will cycle then the guages will start registering (fuel guage, etc. ) Maybe the computer checking the systems?????

Thanks.

I'm thinking you might be hearing your lift pump cycle. I don't think the anti-lock pump runs unless its "called to duty". Good luck. Chuck

Chuck, thanks for the reply. I had the neighbor cycle the ignition switch while I had my hand on the brake unit and sure enough, it whirred for moment then quit, and I could hear the lift pump running also and for a longer time. I wonder if the antilock brakes are about to throw craps!!! Too darn complicated for me!!
