Kerosene Heater

Here is a bit of news for Harbor freight shoppers!

Though not as big as yours I mounted my Quincy on compressed rubber pads rated at 1,000 lbs. each. I just wanted a cushion against vibration movement and insulate noise. It worked well being in the open shop with the radio on, there is little noise w/ running and turned out quite acceptable. The wood pad is made out of 4x4's and free floating, non-attached to the floor with a thick piece of ply wood and it's been a couple of years now and it doesn't move around at all on the floor when running, and shows no movement of the compressor it's self mounted to the wood pad and HD rubber pads. Solid and steady, yet movable easily if needed.

That's a nice set up. Mine is mounted on rubber pads that I purchased with the compressor. They aren't in the picture as I had just set it down and unhooked before I took the picture. It's now anchored to the floor. I've got to decide how I'm going to pipe it. We have two 1/2" X 50' hose reels and I need to have air for a plasma cutter. It looks like you used brass fittings. What is the pipe between the filter and regulator made from? I'd really like to steer clear of anything that could contaminate my air supply. I think the auto drain will be nice.

I've got 50' of hose on the reel and use it for my plasma cutter, works good. I've got another 50' hose that I can plug in to the reel and run air line out side all around the shop if needed. The compressor and lines ganged together works good rigged up with some 3/16" copper tubing extension and a blow gun for cleaning the leaves out of the cutters on the shop. Hate ladders and I've got over 15' to get up to the gutters. From the ground the copper line ducted taped to an extend a pole with a hook down and a small attached orifice for air to exit blows the leaves right out of there w/ 140 psi. You have to watch these made in tywann hose reels they advertise 3/8" minimum airflow through hose reels and there was 2 points inside the reel where the airflow was reduced to 1/8", it would barely run an air drill let alone drive a 3/8" air ratchet or impact. Great initial airflow quickly dropped right off to about 25lbs wide open. Located the proper sized fittings as photos demonstrate my corrections. I figured since "Goodyear's name was on it, it must be fairly reliable??? Wrong Answer! Had to draw a picture on the phone to their engineers regarding their short comings on how to correct their problems.

Copper or brass is all I used. The Milton regulator and filter may have been plastic??
I get very little water in the tank have only drained a few oz's out of it in a couple of years. But it kept in the shop at 68-70 degrees year round and water never get any to the air tools. Got a filter for the back of the Plasma Cutter just for grins.

Here is the final product. We used all brass fittings and hydraulic hose. We also have a 50' hose reel, plus two spots with quick couplers. There is still a lot of work left before the shop is finished. Thanks for all of the input!
