Good permanent gasket sealer for one side?

Someone explain to me why

Anyone have any recommendations for a quiet diesel generator for use on a fifth wheel toy hauler? I have seen information about a 6500 watt Onan with 3 cylinder Kubota engine somewhere but have not found any for sale. I have also heard about smaller Kubota generators in the 6500 watt range. What do yall recommend? Reason for diesel is because my toys that will be in the garage of the toy hauler are all diesel. I am looking at the Grand Design 351M.

Why a generator when some cheap solar panels and a lithium battery can provide the same power FOR YEARS AND FOR FREE?

Not enough power to run air conditioners and other accessories in a 50 amp RV, but great for keeping the batteries charged for the DC power stuff.

Ozy is now running an AC unit with his panels and lithium battery.

He is making a believer out of me....

Onan is what the Motor home has on board, we had a third A/C unit added before our trip to WI and MI upper peninsula. Could barely hear it run in or out of the MH

Run searches for this on craigslist and google searches. Also use searchtempest.com for that. They are out there both new and used. I have the 6k on my horse trailer and run both ac no problem. They make it in a 6, 7.5 8k. Used anything under 2000 hours is usually good. There are some places that pull them out of burnt rv's.

I also noticed the QD6000 and QD8000 are the same size and weight. Might be best to go for the 8000, huh?

I have been told the 6000 and 8000 are exactly the same only the governor is different on the two units and circuit breakers are different.

If you want quiet then the Kubota is a good choice. MAKE sure that the generator is a 4 pole, 1800 rpm set. Some of the small Kubota sets run at 3600 rpm. Not a nice sound to listen to and the poor engine started dead cold has to come up to that speed. I would stay away from the Inan inverter sets that have a variable speed engine depending on load. The inverter section can be a can of worms with a lot of electronics. The older Onan 7.5 DKD is a pretty simple set. The newer the generators the more electronics. The more electronics, the more chances for something to fail out in the boonies. Simple is an Onan 5.0 CCK. NO electronics, engine runs at 1800 rpm and the engine speed controls the Hz and the voltage. They can be abandoned, left outside and not started in years and generally they can be resurected in an hour or less.

Those are some interesting rigs. Looks like Ozzy has a snorkel on his truck? Also that red rig with the gray camper section, never seen one like that. Are those commercial campers, or all custom built?

Hi Mike
they are all custom built.
the red/silver one is made of carbon fiber, very light.
it has a dry weight of below 6000Lbs.
it's a 2500 with the Hemi 5.7

Thanks for posting the link - truly a work of art, I have never seen workmanship to match it here in the States. In the pics at the link, I see there is a snorkel on that truck as well, very nicely integrated. It appears similar to the one on your truck - are they the same? How tough are they to install?

Guys,

Sorry no advice on diesel generator selection but this https://www.microair.net/collections/easystart-soft-starters device is worth looking at as a way to start an RV AC on a small generator. Typical, a 15,000 BTU on a 2000W invertor generator. How, no real clue. But I helped install one and it did work as claimed. IT reduces the initial starting "jolt" of power required and the AC just fires up no big whoomp sound. It has quite a following in the Airstream forum, Airforums.com
