Do companies rent out eqpt trailers?

I own an Onan 6kw portable gasoline generator (3 years old) that I use for my race car trailer. It's on wheels and most of the time I can set it up far enough away at the track that noise is not a problem. However, at some tracks I have to keep it very close to my trailer. What can I do to quiet this thing down? Is a larger muffler available? I want it to remain portable so I can use it around the house during hurricane season. thanks.

My BIL built a box for his, with sound proofing and picked up a muffler as well... He never was happy... . too big, hard to keep cool, he finally traded the thing off and bought a now noise unit which he is very happy with.....

My Honda is a 5kw and isn't as quite as I'd like but the price was so right, that I'm just going to live with it..... I've got an new 5er and the genset doesn't sound so loud with the new trailer... . but it has almost 2'x the insulation as my old trailer...

I have a built-in onan on my 5er and have been wondering the same thing. It isn't loud in the trailer but there seems to be a lot of exhaust noise out side. Is there some type of muffler I can get to shut it up?

I have a brand new 5KW Onan Cummins Portable gasoline Pull/Electric start generator that is stated to be very quiet. However I have never started it and it is still sealed in the original container. I purchased it to go in my truck for use with a used 5er, however we ordered a new 5er with a built-in Onan 5KW propane generator. The gasoline generator is for sale. PM me if interested.

There is a company that makes an exhaut system that goes from the genset to the roof of the trailer to keep ground level emissions in tight camp spots to a minimum it may also reduce noise. Camping world sells them and I think John Holmes talked about them in one of his columns.

Most of the noise is not from the muffler, but from the mechanical portion of the motor and the generator. Good luck.

A little off topic, my lawn mower is freaking loud and annoying and it's a newer toro. Why the heck can't these companies make a quite motor. most gassers are whisper quite.

I bought a resonator from Onan. It's made for these generators and mounts on the exhaust after the muffler, to soften the noise. I think it works well.

While I'm still going to try to quiet mine down, it's better than the guys at the track who purchase the "bargain" gen sets. You know, 7kw for $599!!!!

Open frame generators do not belong in camp grounds. The Coleman 1850 is a POS also. The Honda EU series or the Yamaha matching units seem to be the generators of choice for camping. SNOKING
