Dont shut the truck off. :-laf No I have 5inch turn outs and not much water seams to get in. Im very carefull when I wash them. Don't drill holes in the bottoms of them or you will have an exhaust leak that bugs the heck out of ya. Believe me I had one from a loose clamp. Hope this helps if ya don't have them yet you ll love them when ya get them, I know I do.
I don't have any problems with water and I'm running the turnouts. Like cread said... just watch when you wash them. But as far as rain and such... no problems. I did not drill a hole in the system for drainage and so far so good
I've heard from the big truck guys some one makes a flapper that goes down inside the stack where you can't even see it from the out side (for straight or slash cuts). Never seen one. The one thing I hate about stacks is the soot they blow all over my truck and garage...
I had 5" miter cuts on my '99 and drilled a 1/16" hole in the elbow pipe under the bed. I did not have any "problems" with exhaust leak from it or water in the system either one. It's a pretty tiny hole & better than slinging soot all over the place if your truck ever sits out in downpour.
