Tappets Holders
The Method that RacinDuallie speaks of is what we did but instead of Zipties we used rubber bands. When you pull the cam shaft out you need to hold the tappets in so the don't fall into the bottom of the oil pan (if they fall down here you HAVE to remove the engine). You can access the tappets if you take off the Drivers side cover on the side of the motor were the ECU is on a 24 valve. Since you have to remove the ECU this is normal done on 12 valves (like our '95 Haggie with a 5. 9). After you remove the little cover you can see and access were the pushrods set down into the tappets. BEFORE you remove the cam you remove the pushrods and Ziptie or place rubber bands around the top of the tappets (the protrude about 1/2"). The other way to hold tappets (that IMHO is easier on a 24 Valve or on motors left in trucks) is the dowl rod method. Hope you can imagine what I have explained
