Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) R&R transmission.....how much time?

I just had 5th gear go in my transmission(98 3500 4X4 5 spd) and was told the transmission was done. So they installed a rebuilt and I was charged 10 hours r&r time which I think is excessive. I know with the proper tools I can do it in 4-5 hours but I can't find the flat rate time chart for this procedure. Does anyone have this info I can take back to the shop and discuss with them?



They also didn't contact me for authorization before performing the work so I need all the info I can get before I meet with them.

my alldata says 5. 5 hrs with the transfer of parts 9. 8 hrs if they rebuilt your trans. hope this helps

I found the TSB that allows 2. 5 hours for reinstallation/replacement of the 5th gear nut which is all the work I authorized.
