Competition Speed limiter has got to go!

Competition BBD 2007 sled pulling season video

raced a duramax today. his is a 2003 with a edge on stock tires. first race i was on 1x5 and beat him by 2-3 trucks(according to him). second race i was on 5x5 and barely caught up to him at the end.

i believe my transmission does not want to support the power that my truck is capable of. when i first installed my turbo with my injectors(already had the drag comp and tc/vb), my truck would just shoot out through every gear shift and would pull on top really really hard. now on 5x5, my transmission lugs after every shift then starts pulling a little hard in the high rpm's.

am i right here? is the transmission slowing me down? also my turbo boost is only reaching 38 lbs. could the transmission have anything to do with that?

I'd say there's definately something wrong. You should totally smoke him with your upgrades. Seems like with the chip turned up it's just slipping the trans and not getting the power to the ground.

mine ran like that and the VP44 died!

well my vp is fairly new(6 months) and the fuel pressure stays at 11psi and goes down to 9. 5psi. also no codes have been thrown.

i am assuming thats it. am i suppose to feel something obvious when the tranning is slipping? also if the transmission is slipping, does that cause my turbo not to spool to its potential?

i was going to dyno my truck this weekend. will i lose alot of power numbers on the dyno with the transmission slipping and my truck being on rollers?

Yes... no load=no spool=no go fast#@$%!

As for power on the dyno yes and no. It depends on how heavy they can load it. On some dynos they can't load it like you can on the street so the trans may not slip. But it still could, so it's a tough question to answer. Hook up to a trailer and go down the freeway at 70 and kick it down, does it just redline?? That's an easy way to see if it's slipping. Yes, you will also see less boost if it's slipping as it won't work the motor as hard.

well i found the problem. i soldered my pump wire and i got my power back. the wire tap i had on before must have not been making a solid connection. im happy..... now where is that duramax???

He is running away and hiding :-laf:-laf:-laf

you have a whoe arsenal of dmaxes. one for every kind of competition? i actually almost got scared:-laf. no really though my nephew has a 03 dmax and he wasnt sure what kind of chip to get. he just recently ordered a quadzilla race box rated at 215 hp. do you have any info on this chip? he was looking at the efi but it seemed a bit confusing for him.

Bout two weeks ago I raced a Duramax that had an edge, intake, exhaust and maybe some other stuff this is just what i saw and heard.

He pulled out about 70 feet in front of me and nailed the throttle. So I reacted with the foot down hard and the throw of the lock up switch. It was one of those races where they're one of your hands starts behind the other and then flies past it. I can't wait to see what mine does after I do all the stuff I want to with it.
