Competition Racing Rice Rockets

I saw a show last night were kids were street racing their rice rockets in California. They were betting anywhere from $100. 00 a race to $1000 for a 1/4 mile run. These cars were pretty tricked out. The funny part was seeing this kid loose 2 races in a row. He was down 400 bucks, then went double or nothing on the third race. He won the third race, but blew his engine in the process. Where do these kids get the money for this??



I just thought it would be funny to show up in a CTD, and take their money. As dumb as these kids were, it would be too easy

I beat one the other day, some sort of Toyota hatchback (or honda, they all look the same) anyhow he had vendor stickers all over the sides and rear, so I antagonized him a little, then took the comp up to level 5x5.

We both made a left and I nailed it, he didnt do too bad probably 3 car lengths behind me and losing ground.



Anyhow, we both slowed down, and he asked me "do you have a turbo in that thing?"

I said "Yeah"

He was awstruck!!

I watched that too. I was terrified that these losers were not taking it to the track. Granted, I may participate in light to light races. These kids, although some proved to have great driving skills, are doing full on drag racing just feet from folks on the side of the road! If they were to employ the proper safety equipment then it wouldn't be so bad. I know that the tracks are more accessible for me, but I would not be racing like that on the street. I first thought that it may be an answer to helping the kids do something other than drugs and gangs. But, it looked like it was typical SoCal attitude after a loss; tempers, guns and money.



On a different note, they have started these races at Muncie Dragway (called the Fast and Furious drags) and asked if I'd participate August 16th. I will be at the TDR Nat's, but there will be more.
