2017 Long Horn CC 6.7L Aisin SRW

It's been cold here, I have the cold weather package so I have been plugging my Ram in 5 hrs before I start it up. Question one, are there any anodes in the radiator that need to be changed out? Question two I have read a number of posts about recalled 220 amp alternators. Does the recall apply to the 2017 Rams. Question three - yesterday after I did a remote start (vehicle was at work so cold and not plugged in) I got the battery saver msg. It was displayed during a 12 mile trip but when I turned the engine off and immediately restarted the engine the msg was no longer there. Does this msg clear while driving or only on restart?

I think it clears after 3 restarts. I get this message all the time, pretty much ignore it. It only happens when it is really cold, down into the teens and lower. I think its because of cycling the grid heater for a long period of time.

I'd have your Alt checked !! See if it's part of the recall. The only time I've ever gotten the Battery saver message was the day my alt burned up. I almost lost the truck as it burned up some wiring when it failed. It also severely Damaged my batts. I was lucky my alt failed about 4 months before the recall notice came out. I cost me around $1200 to fix my truck. Ram was nice enough to refund me after the recall notice was released and good alt's were released.

Not that you can't check, but the alternator recall was over by MY 2014.

Chrysler's number for the alternator recall is R59. ... Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2011-2014 Dodge Charger Police vehicles, 2007-2013 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis, 2008-2013 RAM 4500 and 5500 Cab Chassis, and 2013 RAM 2500 and 3500 vehicles. The affected vehicles have a 220 amp alternator that may suddenly fail and cause a fire.

Wix manufactures a coolant additive that restores the chemicals that leave anti-freeze as it ages... There are other manufactures it's just the one I use... it can be found under CAT, Cummins in the parts department of their shops...

Its common on large engines/cooling systems to every year fortify the coolant system... I don't do it yearly but do it ever other year when I get ready for winter...

At the same time I always bleed the brakes using a full quart of brake fluid to flush out the dirty brake fluid that has accumulated in the calipers...

I hope you’re not doing that with HOAT or OAT coolants.
