Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Radiator Cleaning?

I had some minor water cooling issues the last time I towed. At low pressure I'm going to clean the radiator of bug and what not. Has anyone used Simple Green? I was thinking of presoaking the radiator to make sure any and all oil residue is removed. Does this sound correct?

That sounds like a good idea. I see a big differnce in cooling with it clean. Better ac too.

I wasn't exactly looking for something to clean the radiator, just browsing around Home Depot - our weekly entertainment outing -and noticed some stuff in a spray can that's used for cleaning airconditioner coils and fins - says on the can it's also good for vehicle radiators so I bought some and tried it.



Seemed to do a good job cleaning the crud out. I sprayed it in from the front, let it sit a couple minutes and then hosed it off. Don't know how much it helped because I've never had any cooling problems but it sure got 7 years worth of junk out. Don't remember the name on the can - used it all up and threw it away, but it was in the back of the store where they sell airconditioners.



Simple Green would probably do just as good a job but this stuff foams alot and maybe gets into all the nooks and crannies better. Reminds me of that Scrubbing Bubbles stuff for the bathroom - gee, maybe that's what it is with a different label.
