Radiator drain valve

Decided to change my coolant today. Got everything ready and went to open the drain valve on the radiator. Turned the valve ccw with a slight pulling action. Valve turned 90 degrees and nothing came out. Tried to push a small wire through the valve but it didn't seem to go very far. I moved the valve back and forth a few times,still nothing. Anybody got any suggestions?

I have some personal experience with the drain valve.

Mine came out in my hand what a mess.

I turned 90 degrees and pulled, nothing, went for 180 while pulling. Don't want to turn anymore, it's tapered and designed to come all the way out. Just be careful while pulling and turning. Mine felt like it was stuck and I pulled a trifle to hard and turn just a little to far. Wasn't funny at the time, but now I can't stop laughing when I talk about it. Coolant running in my face while I'm fishing around in the bucket for the valve that came out.

I was just changing a thermostat. Ended up changing the coolant.
