radiator fan clutch, does it set a code when it goes out?

Just wondering if the fan clutch sets a code when it fails. I just had to replace one at 97000 miles on an '05 and it gave no indication of failure that I could tell beyond not hearing the fan roar and some more temp on the gauge.

No codes usually, just won't engage

A failure in the the mechanical portion does not set codes. Electrical will but thats the least common failure.
