I am going to have my thermostat changed tomorrow in my friends shop. Would you all go ahead and have the radiator flushed out? He has the machine there to do it properly. I am leaning towards going ahead and doing it. I am sure there is a bunch of crap in there after 200,000 miles.

Also would you all fill it back with a good quality antirfreeze/water mix or spend the extra bucks on the Shell Rotella pre-mix?

I would certainly do it... flush and coolant change is cheap. We didn't say when you did it last, but after 200000 miles, I'm sure it would do it some good.

I would recommend the Fleetguard ES Complet coolant... it is long life and seems to do a good job of cooling.

Definately flush the system. I would put in a good quality antifreeze and don't forget to add water pump lubricant.

Also remember that the initial fill is what is important... If you have access to a vacuum fill system use it... this will insure there are no air pockets.

Oh..... might as well go for a new pressure cap... they're cheap.
