I know this has been discussed in the past but I couldn't find the link. My antifreeze is getting rather green/brownish lately. What type of antifreeze should I use for my diesel? I hear Texaco is a no go, are there others I should look out for? I don't think it is the company per say, but the chemicals they use. What should I look for to stay away from? Any special way to flush the radiator other then just draining it into buckets and then refilling?

I would first look for a good flush to make sure the heater core doesn't get clogged up (especially with winter coming). I use the 'old' Prestone and change it every 24,000 miles. At that interval, it is still green so further flushing isn't needed. Just drain and refill. I've heard that the GM type fluid isn't good for the truck but I don't remember the reason.

I also change mine every 24000 miles using Zerex antifreeze. Cummins also has an antifreeze designed for the B serries engine. I've installed a back flushing tee in the line leading to the heater. I remove the lower radiator hose and back flush the block and radiator until everything runs clear. After that I add 10 qts of Zerex and top it off with distilled water.
Good Luck
Happy Trails
