I drained the radiator and now can't close the drain. It just keeps turning but doesn't tighten up. Can someone help me out here?

Does anyone know how that valve is in the tank? Ball valve or in a nut or something else? Is it fixable or am I lookin at a new radiator? Can the left tank just be swaped out with a good one?

This is aggrevating! Draining a radiator on a 3yr old truck is not rocket science.

You have to push in on it. It will only turn a quarter or half turn if I remember right. Sometimes the o-ring gets pinched and leaks but I haven't heard of one going bad.

To open you turned a quarter or half turn and pulled straight out, right.

You can get a new plug if it is messed up. It pulls out of the radiator for the o-ring replacement so you should be able to replace it if needed.

Thanks for the help Alan!

Mine turned round and round did I shear something? I tried pushing in and turning it but it would not seat. I was afraid to pull hard on it. Is it just a T slot and a 1/4 turn lets it out? It has some play fore and aft but felt like it was still held in.

If I remember correctly, it's a quarter turn ccw and then pull straight out. Then it drains. If it is pushed in and won't lock, the plug may have the locking tabs sheared off.

The dealer can get a replacement. Or see if there is a truck in a local junk yard.

I tried it again today pushing harder than I thought I ought to on plastic and it went in and locked. My track record with plastic parts is not stellar so I'm a little shy on force with them. I don't know if before I just wasn't pushing hard enough or didn't have it indexed right but today all the stars were in proper alignment and no leaks.

Thanks again for the info.
