This question is for all of you that have the newer style plastic or composition style radiator tanks.
I changed a friends ('95) water pump yesterday and when I went to drain the fluid I discovered that his tank must have had some "mud" in it. When I turned the integrated pet cock both ways, vertical and horizontal, nothing came out. Anyway rather than mess with trying to clear the obstruction I just pulled the pump and let the fluid out and siphoned the remainder through the fill and completed the job.
Since I have the old style brass tanks I consider myself as being plastic challanged and I have not had the occasion to drain this new type of tank before. However my logic tells me that the blade on the pet cock would rest in the horizontal position to be closed and vertical to be open
I'm I right or wrong.
Thanks
