Hello everyone,

I was wondering who makes the best radiator for our trucks and what type is it? My radiator in my truck is starting to fail ( after 300,000 miles) and I upgrade to the best one I can find. I have thought of just having mine re-cored but if I can find a better replacement I am all ears.

Thanks in advance,

Kurt.

That is real good mileage on the radiator you have. I believe that any qualified radiator shop worth their reputation could re-core your old one. I do not know if your present radiator is a cross-flo type in your year model, but other first gener's logged on can help you with this info.

The cross-flo is supposed to have a little better circulation & cooling due to its design. If you have not had any heating problems with yours, I certanily would not hesitate to repeat what you have. NAPA auto parts could supply you with a replacement at probably less cost than a OEM one. One of my friends just got a replacement from NAPA and it was alluminum construction.

Thanks Chuck,

I am going to call my local NAPA store tomorrow but as long as I have to pull the radiator I want to replace it with the best that I can.

Best regards,

Kurt.

The cross-flow design may have come in with intercooling. If I remember correctly, you can get a different thermostat elbow or modify yours and do some other modifications and upgrade to that type. As has been said above, there are others who know more about this, I think.
