On my 99, the radio buttons for the stations have started turning white! It looks like the paint, I guess itd paint, is coming off of them.

Hell, I don't change stations that much. Truck has about 35,000 miles. Was wondering if anyone else has had this to happen? Going to stop buy the dealer to see if they will replace it under warranty... . thanks

Raw, my 99 is doing the same thing the station presets and the seek buttons have turned completly white. I do have a few more miles on the truck than you about 54,000 and the only thing the dealer can do is charge my $275 just to look at the radio. I would just start saving your spare change and buy an after maket radio. They will give you alot better performance and longer life than the $680 factory option Infinity sound system:mad: Crutchfield has some pretty nice radios that fit into the large opening on the dash, and most of them are under $300.

Hope this helps.

crutchfield

another nice thing about crutchfield is that they include very detailed, vehicle specifis install instructions. made it soooo easy even i could do an install. very knowledgeable support operators,

too. :) :) :)

Update on the Radio. Beleive it or not buy my dealer replaced the radio under warranty. Had about 37,000 miles on the odo... .

Now in another 3 years I can look forward to the buttons turning white again:rolleyes:

Sounds like you have a pretty decent service dept. to deal with!

I have almost 119,000 miles on my 99 and I am also a Diesel Mechanic and there is no wear on the buttons:D I am always changing stations and volume. I guess I am one of the lucky ones:cool:

Maybe traces of diesel on your hands keeps the black paint on the buttons! I didn't think the black was paint, and if it is, it should be on the under side of the button...

bass acwards engineered

would that be the first DC engineered flaw?

DON'T THINK SO!

... or maybe they just intentionally plan these things to make you visit your friendly DC stealer frequently!
