Radio cuts in and out.

2011 Ram 3500, 130K, 4x4 crew cab long bed. Radio started to cut out intermittently while driving. Sometimes would not come on until driving a while. It usually once it came on it would stay on till I turned it off. Lately it cuts out and stays off with occasional popping thru the speakers. The phone would work while this was happening till lately. Now it too is cutting in and out during a call. Temperature seems to have no bearing as well as bumps or speed changes. Elevation changes from 1000 ft to as high as 3-4000 feet shows no difference. I don't think that has anything to do with that anyway. Temps are from 0 degrees to over 100. everything else appears normal. Should I bother to take it to the dealer or just go with an aftermarket unit. I don't need anything fancy just a good radio/CD/ Phone.
