This morning I went to the grocery store, listening to a CD I had burned a couple weeks ago, and the song just faded to where I could barely hear it. Ihad it fairly loud, but not to the max. After shutting off the radio and turning it back on and playing the same spot of the song, it was fine, but it doesn't seem to reach the volume level it did before.

I have the six speaker infinity system with radio controls on the steering wheel. The only thing I have done with the system is adding an amp and two subwoofers.

Any ideas guys?

Thanks

How???

I am getting lots of ERR on my 96 CD player. Also, when getting the highest number tracks it almost always pauses a few times during a song. Pop out CD and it will be quite warm.

Any tricks to help keep it going?\

How do you clean the head?

Cleaning the head oc a CD player will not help fading out. The signal is digital. As such, it is either there or it is not. Stuttering or pausing or error indications could be the result of a dirty lens. Since CD is also a non-contact media it is unlikely the laser will ever get dirty enough in a passenger vehicle to cause problems.

Fading in and out, an analog problem, sounds more like problems with an amplifier. How are they mounted? Is there enough cooling air to them?

Anyway to clean the lense?

This is what I have thought. Many a times going from -30 to +70 guickly, everything fogs over pretty bad.

Not sure why I would be generating heat. I do know that in the heat of summer I have less problems because the AC is running and the cab is cool. In the winter I have more problems.

I am very satisfied with the Factory (Infinity) system in my 96. Everything else works fine. Just lots of CDs spun in the 190K miles on it.
