I am having a bit of trouble installing an aftermarket head unit in the '01. Factory radio still plays, but display is going out. Bought a Pioneer DEH-6300UB from Crutchfield with install kit, everything went together fine. Installed in truck and no audio whatsoever? Unit works perfectly otherwise, lights up, memory stays etc... Equalizer graph(?) shows it picking up radio stations, also no audio with USB/Ipod hooked up. Pulled radio out of 98; Pioneer also, and it will not work in 01, but new radio will work in 98, so my wiring is not bad? Plugged factory radio back in and it still works? Not Infinity. Any ideas? Thanks!

I had that happen in my 95 and it eneded up having a factory amp, was there any extra wires? the blue/white strip on the pioneer will be a remote turn on for the amp if there is one, may want to check a wiring schematic. Also the crutchfeild install kit may not have had the correct wiring for an amp so yo may have to cut and splice one wire.

Well other thing to check is single out all wires in the harness, you have your speakers, battery power, key on, memory, illumination and ground. If there are still extra wires it may have an amp, might point you in the right direction. Otherewise the only thing I could think of is the speaker wires are all crossed

I would give crutchfield a call. Their tech support is awesome... . every time I called it has worked to my advantage... IMHO. I replaced two different head units about 5 yrs back, one had a auto flip face on it. Well, the auto flipped but didnt pick up radio at all. Gave them a call, and sure enough, I wired something wrong.

Hey guys, thanks for your help. I got it going, it IS Infinity, I just got aggravated and pulled a door panel off and there the amp was... (one of them anyway) hooked up the remote wire and it works perfect. I feel like a big dummy now. Nowhere in or on my truck, or factory radio does it say Infinity? Not sure if that's a common thing or not, would a non-Infinity stereo system have factory tweeters?

Dont know about the non infinity trucks having tweeters but I know it very common for those trucks to have amps in them, they usually sound really good with a good head unit, Enjoy the new stereo!
