The last day or two I have noticed that when I turn off my truck the radio will stay on for another 15-20 seconds after turning off the key and opening the door. Also when the door is open i get the "lights are on with door open" chime. I get this chime even when I haven't turned on the lights. When the chime is activated the alarm system will not flash the turn signals but the doors will lock.

I don't know if it is related but for about the last week the shift lever will take some hard effort to get out of park. Almost like I am trying to shift out of park without pushing on the brake.

I was going to say that last week after I bought my 07 I turned the truck off and the radio stayed on. . FOr the life of me I tried to figure it out. . LOLOLOL Finally I got frustrated and opened the door and it went off. . LOLOL Funny story. . I thought your post was going to be similar. You can also disconnect your Neg battery cables and let the truck sit a few minutes... If it is simply a computer deal that should clear it...

A lot of vehicles have this feature. The radio will stay on 5 minutes after the vehicle is turned off before you open the door. This way you can listen to "Rush" without idling your truck.

Getting back to the earlier option, my ignition is worn out, so the keys come out without the ignition fully locked, even if it looks close, sometimes it isn't quite there. This will cause the "you're about to lock your keys in the truck" alarm to go off, which sounds just like the "lights on" alarm. In order for the radio to stay on, at least in 2nd gens, you have to go past lock to to Acc, but that has happened to me. I remove the keys and don't realize I turned it all the way to Acc. If it is your ignition wearing out, it can be monstrously convenient as you can now lock your truck with it running if you're only going to be a minute and don't want to wait for the EGTs to drop. Just thoughts from an old 2nd genner

I have had this happen to my truck... there was nothing wrong with the ignition. Turns out there is a $29 wiring harness that is the culprit.

Steve,

do you by chance have the part number for the harness. Also where does this harness go?

I have played with the ignition switch trying to get the key out without it being on the off position and I can't seem to do it.

I'd have to look for the reciept... they replaced the dash cluster (body computer is part of that" in an attempt to fix mine...

I believe it is a short harness in the engine compartment... they had all the wiring apart there (the "T" from the harness running across the top of the engine that drops near the MC)...

I'll look when I get home, but no guaranties I still have it...

well, chalk up another problem to go to the dealer with.

I know it surprised me when the body computer fix failed and I got a $800 bill with a computer (which was NEVER installed) and a wire harness...

If need be, you could have the dealer look up the repair on their system...

I'd pay extra to have my radio stay on without my key in the ignition. Granted most guys would kill the batteries w/this feature... .
