New Truck???

(2006) Ram with 6 disc changer/stereo. This started happening a couple of weeks ago and is intermittent. When I turn the key to start, while waiting for the "wait to start" light to turn off, the radio comes on. When I turn the key to start the truck, the radio display goes off and stays off after the truck starts and is running. Later, usually after turnng the engine off and re-starting, the radio will come on.

An independent mechanic friend found a service bulletin (08-018-06). Apparently I can take the truck in to have it flashed. After hearing horror stories of mileage decrease, and other problems after a flashing, I am reluctant to take this chance. I'm getting great mileage with the truck.

My question is: Doe a flash for a selective item such as this radio thing target only the radio or are other functions automatically re-set?

Is anyone else having this problem?

Thanks. Jerry Henry

The re-flash is the only fix. Take it to the dealer and be specific about the flash your after. Ask them not to add other calibrations.

Have fun. :-laf I drive 160 miles to have mine done @ the dealer. I am an inspector and I know the techs... :D
