I`m in and out of my truck a lot every day, probably 10-12 times easy, goin from job to job, and the time it takes for my RER nav radio to reboot sucks.

Anyone know the harness# or wire color for the switched ignition input for the radio? I want to add a toggle switch direct to battery (fused) so the thing just stays on. would save me a lotta headache. . I`d rather not have to take the radio out, dont want to break any plastic pieces.

On that note, anyone got ahold of a service manual for a 4th gen yet? I`m in the market.

thanks

Forget about getting a service manual. TechAuthority looks like they will not be releasing one. They found another revenue source by making the manuals availible only through an online subscription and access.

On the electrical. Everything is controlled via a CanBus network, think of an intranet running inside your truck. I don't think you'll find a keyed power circuit. When you turn on the ignition the computer tells the radio via the CanBus to turn on. None of the switches actually turns on/off anything, they are like a computer keyboard key and just tell the computer what you want done.

hm. . i doubt thats how they do it, as you could never add an aftermarket this way, and i`m sure someone has added an aftermarket radio.

looks like i`ll have to pull the radio outta the dash for my mod. . hmm

On the plus side it takes less than 5 minutes to get the radio out. 3 screws to get the dash off. 4 to get the radio out.

Sorry, but it is how it works. Your radio has constant B+ via fuse 45, 30 amp. The radio and the amp share the same power and the BUS tells the radio to turn on.

Wow the radio is protected by a 30a fuse? I can see the amp on a 30a, no problem. . But 30a to a 15a device could be a fire hazard if theres an internal failure in the radio...

Cheap cheap cheap... great.
