Hello,

I am concerned with the Rail pressure that my Predator Stage 3 puts out. I have a freind who has it as well and he blew 2 of the pressure relief valves on the injecter pump! this was within a month. He too has taken his off. My question is the Edge EZ running this hi a rail pressure? is there any concerns with the Edge chip?

Thanks

I haven't heard of that problem with the Edge. If my memory serves me, the Edge peaks at 23,000 PSI and the pressure relief valve is 25,000 PSI. Maybe it's higher than that, but I'm pretty sure the Edge was 2,000 PSI below blow off valve.

What is stock pressure? I was under the (incorrect) impression that the edge box was only a timing box.

A safe way to Rise HP is to increase rail pressure, the Problems develop when rail pressure is kept high all the time. Higher Rail pressure higher HP. It seems when Rail is high all the Time that"s when eventually it Decompresses.

I'm not sure what all the time means. I've had the throttle pegged pulling a steep grade for a period up to ten minutes with my Edge EZ. Is it a cumulative thing, or just pushing max rail pressure for a little to long at one stretch?

I have tested E-Z on level six For over 10 Month and 12k Pulling 10 to 20 thousand LBS,Not One Pop off,I have never replaced one,Cummins Recommends if you pop it replace it,It not designed like a relieve valve,If it pops it get"s weaken every time more.

OK guys my understanding, the pressure relief valve is a 1000 + bill to replace and I would not expect DC should or would replace it under warranty. So I really don't want to go their!

So does the edge settings increase the rail pressure with increase of the HP ? or is the rail pressure schedule constant with each level ? the reason I ask is if I was to set the EZ at a low setting would the rail pressure be lower and I would not have to flirt with the pressure relief valve ?

Thanks again

how do you know when you pop it? the rail pressure too high code? what happens when its bad? what are the symptoms? i can hear a loud noise on mine when i take my foot out of it after a hard pull if my box is all the way up and it takes about 5-10 seconds before it clears out. it sounds kinda like the waste gate does when you have a bunch of boost and lift off the throttle but more like a ticking.

The Edge EZ is a pure pressure box. The lower the setting, the lower the fuel pressure. I've run mine pretty hard pulling a heavy load on the stock setting and haven't had any problems. I think if you find any that have had problems it will be those that are playing with the "mystery" settings 5 or 6. I haven't heard that they've had that particular problem, but the fact that Edge decided to delete those settings suggests to me that they were flirting in the zone of too much pressure.

Edge EZ and Diesel Dynamics "True Torque" boxes have been reliable at settings 1-4. The DD has those four power levels and a zero level for just boost fooling (for example, if you use the excellent DD "Jammer" turbo which goes to 38 psi). More pressure than that means you are flirting with the pop off valve, and your wallet.

Summit, my understanding is that when the valve has opened it does not re-seat itself. The systems are a very rough running engine and lots of smoke.

So guys would it be reasonably safe to run a edge ez at a low setting then go with one of the duration boxes such as the TST or the Edge Juice (if it ever arrives) and run them on a safe level. My desire is around 100 hp without having to upgrade the turbo and running to hi a pressure on my HP rail.

Thanks again

Don't know about the pop-off valve, but I did have complete pump failure a few months ago. I had it posted on the 911 section and was told there were failures of the pumps with people running the pressure boxes. I sent my Edge box to Edge and they cked it out and said there was nothing wrong with it but sent me a new one just to make sure. I also talked several times with one of their reps. and he said he had not ever heard of their box causing a problem. This happened after well over 100k miles of heavy towing (149,000+ total miles) The truck has gone another 20k+ miles since putting the new one on with no problems. This is slightly off the pop-off valve subject, but it is related to possible problems with pressure boxes. By the way, I used to run on level 4, now I run on level 3. The pump is expensive.
