comrades! there is NO blue wiper fluid anywhere near me in colorado. ive tried 6 places. somewhere in the TDR writings i read the sensor in the washer fluid tank doesnt like rain x washer fluid. is this still the case? or was it for earlier trucks?i have one bottle of it but dont want to toast the sensor. 2018 2500. thanks. cheers!

I use their winter brew through the cold months. Works much better than regular fluid at keeping the windshield clean.

I’ve used Rain-X orange in my 2000 CTD and all of my vehicles for years. No problems

Same, it’s all I buy.

I did have an issue for about 6 months 5ish years ago on my VW Jetta that I had to clean the sensor twice. That’s it. We’ve owned the wife’s 4Runner for 15 years and put over 170K miles on it with the stuff.

It never messed with my sensors but a mechanic friend of mine told me it makes the spray nozzles brittle. That’s after my drivers side nipple snapped off and the nozzle crumbled into several pieces when I had had to replace it.

Should be a PSA about the Rain X stuff: It coats the sensor and turns the low washer fluid light on. It happened to my 2018 the day after I added a bottle of it. The sensor is easy to pull out and clean with nothing under it in the way. You do take a bath in washer fluid even when the pump runs dry. The good news is the sensor only needs a cleaning to work again.

Good stuff, but, NOT COMPATIBLE with the low washer fluid system.

100% compatible with my ‘18. Low washer level works just fine. No false indications and goes low when it should.

I even stopped on the day I bought it and put some in. Didn’t want to do 500 miles in winter without it.

Could it be is isn't compatible with other fluid you had in there already since others have not had an issue with it?

Maybe they have changed Rain X to be compatible?

Ive been running it for more than 20 years and only had one issue over a 6 month window with 1 rig ~ 5 years ago. I’m guessing that was a bad lot.

I’m not sure what they have changed over the years.

Light rain/mist the wipers leave a nasty film with RainX. 20/10 no issues. I buy the quart bottle that will treat 55 gallons.

You're not supposed to use the wipers as much with rain-x... but even when I do due to slow speed it has never left a film unless it needs reapplied, as in it's gone.

I've been known to add rain-x and rain-x washer fluid to long term rentals. I can't stand driving in the rain without it, it's a safety issue.
