I was sitting in the lineup to get a coffee at Tim Horton's this morning, and I thought I could smell antifreeze, I looked down and my temp guage had gone to the moon..... seconds earlier it was fine... . I pulled out of line and crossed to my shop (across the road)... ... shut'er down and looked under the truck, green pouring out back near the transmission... . #@$%! arrgghhh !!!! blown heater core... ... oh well, better than a head gasket..... good place to have it happen too I guess... .

any tricks or comments anyone would like to add ? I have AC, have done h'cores on previous Chev trucks, and will be diggin' in on this one tomorrow nite. Had to order from NAPA... might be a good time to change the rad too... . only 140,000 miles, but still 14 years old, and lots of salty winters...

Are you sure its the core? It could be a hose in that area. I would suggest that you replace the hoses also if the coolant has rotted out the core. Does your truck have a hot water valve, or does the coolant run through it all of the time? If there is no valve, now would be a good time to install one and give your A/C a boost down in temps.

At least now you can clean out the evap case.

***EDIT***

Just saw you were in Canada. Don't guess you use the A/C like I do. lol
