Someone posted a while back that they put 16" tires on their 5ver to gain more height. I currently have 225/75R15s on the trailer. If I go to a 16" rim, what size tire would a person need to raise, say an 1" to an 1. 5?"

Try this tire size calculator program. http://pw1.netcom.com/~sgalaba/tiresize.htm#ustires. . In step 1 enter the current size tire you now have, then enter the size tire of choice. Click on the "calculate" button in step 2 and you should come up with and answer as seen in step 3..... For a gear ratio comparison due to different size tire diameters for your truck, check out 4LO.com's web site. . http://www.4lo.com/ and go to the "gear ratio" hyperlink near the upper left corner of their web page.

Runaway,
I just performed that trailer "bomb" last fall on my 33' Holiday Rambler 5th. Let's see if I can help you out here.
Like you, I was also running 225/75R15and wanted to increase the trailer ride height. For me the limiting factor on tire size was the axle spacing. In other words, the larger the diameter of the tire, the closer they are to each other between the axles. On my Holiday the axles are spaced 33" on center. I mounted 235/85R16 on steel wheels and gained about 1 3/4" in height. The tire clearence between the front and rear axle is about 2", or the width of the palm of my hand slipped in-between. They fill the rest of the wheel well opening very nicely. The head on my Reese adjustable 5th wheel had to be raised to the next set of holes to get the trailer level again. I originally wanted to mount them on aluminum wheels but after buying the tires the budget for this project was getting pretty expensive. (Don't forget to include the spare in this conversion, or you might get stuck on the side of the road without one. ) I ordered the standard "Polar White" 16 inch steel trailer wheels from an RV dealer and had a body shop that owed me a favor paint them a color that matched the accent stripping on the trailer. A local speed shop had a collection of 16" stainless steel trim rings that came off all those trucks that he sold aftermarket wheels to. He was getting ready to chuck them until I came along. $10. 00 a piece, Holiday wanted $40. 00 a piece!
Hope this helps, have fun.

Firedup, Loco-motion, Thankyou for the assistance, just the info I was looking for. I should be able to get close to level with the extra tire height. Didn't want to go thru the axle flipping routine again. LAst trailer I had it done to I had to take it back twice to get the right arch back into the axles. Thanks again.
