i posted that blue chip will not be raising rail pressure so i called them and they confirmed this. i am an ez fan however raising rail pressure is not the way to go. the problem that exists that w/o raising rail pressure it is much more difficult to get power w/o setting the computer off codes. blue chip also said that tst is working on a box that does not raise rail pressure. it looks like their box will be out soon.

I disagree. It is not that hard to make horsepower and not set codes. I do agree that there are other more costly ways of developing power and I think in the next year you will see a lot of variety!

I drove a friends trk. 1000 mi. towing a 40' tlr. with one of Quadzilla's box on it, never got over 1200* egt. , and it worked great. He has logged almost 10K mi. with the box on, and no codes, and no problems. I don't know what the hp #'s are, but is supposed to be 80-100. Thats the only box I know anything about. BTW, his trk. is an 03 HO w/6spd.

qzilla,

raise hp w/o raising railpressure and see how many codes you bounce! I might get burned by powerjokes and maxi's but I am not raising rail pressure. (or at least not until someone proves that the trucks can handle it for a long time. )

Rail pressure can be increased (within reason) without setting codes, with or without other mods. Compounding mods (injectors and rail pressure boxes) can yield big power on the 03 (500+rwhp) and still not have codes.

keith,

i am sure you know more about this subject than me. I guess what i am trying to say is that i guess i will let you guys try it out first then maybe i will join in. Keith i think we agree on one thing for sure and that is these trucks a yelling for more power. Pulling a charger on a trailer and a 440 and transmission w/ tools i could not even feel it back there:) I cant amagine how this truck is going to tow with injectors and box.

To calm your nerves, we have been testing it for over 8 months now, at higher pressures than we released in our TTPM box. Even with bigger injectors, it's not an issue at the levels we offer.

Keith, as you know, I've got a few months on the TTPM, and a few weeks on the injectors, and tow all the time, up to 14-15K.

No codes, and no pressure problems. If you balance with both, you can have good power that is usuable. Put down close to 400 HP at the dyno event in Southern CA this past weekend, and hauled my trailer over and brought a truck back for a transmission install.

Wasn't a long trip, just 200 miles and cruising along at 75 to 80 all the way back, that is.

fred,

do you have the oem clutch? do you have stock turbo? what kind of egt's are you seeing? How does this truck feel when you have it nailed and it approaches 2600 rpm's. I am sure it will pin you in the seat. :D how about low end power.

I am researching what i want to do to my truck i am sure many others will benefit from your reply to this post.

thanks,

CC

CC, right now the turbo and clutch are stock, and last weekend I hit 396HP at the So. Cal. Dyno Days.

The stock clutch is not complaining yet, but I know it will eventually. It won't take the abuse forever.

Yes, I do have to watch EGT's when putting the pedal to the floor.

I know that and can manage it. I can hit 1200+ while doing full throttle runs.

I do tow with this setup, and because it is still cool here, EGT's can be managed.

The new turbo and airbox will go on soon enough to deal with the summer heat.

I've also got the 5in exhaust, which helps some. Sounds better, if nothing else.

Peak torque calculated was at 2000 RPM. 829 ft. lb. I believe. Yes, it responds very nice.

clutch

I wonder if the 6 speed and the 5 speed clutch are still the same, man I hope so. All I want is 350 rwhp, and if the clutch could hold that I'd be in heaven. I can't hardly wait for the real boxes come out, don't like the pressure boxes. I'm really getting tired of seeing tail lights. My wife is even starting to tease me. :(

Fred,

Thanks for being the pioneer and giving us some insight as to what the best ways to bomb are going to be. You know it started like this for hte isb's now it is the isbe's hopefully it will not be the isbe-egr. As it stands right now this truck is a bombers dream. lets see how it all holds up overtime. thanks for answering my questions because i am sure alot of people are very interested in what you have to say.
