That’s not the math here. The local utility pays a little over 9 cents per kw for coal fired power and the statutory rate for wind and solar is 29.5 cents. That’s the wholesale price to the utility. Those who produce their own and” sell” excess don’t even get payed. They get a few cents credit.

Electric rates on Long Island Ny are the highest in the country. In fact we are still paying for a Nuke plant that LILCO built tested and then disassembled because the neighbors "DIDN'T WANT IT. So if I can get a Guv grant to get solar and have the electric co give me a check each month like my Brother in Law is getting I'm gonna take it. After all the Gov is giving everything away why not get in on it.

Because the GOVERNMENT has no money of their own. They confiscate it from your neighbor and hand it over to you to get you to do their bidding. Would you go next door and demand $$ for your utility bill? Of course not. But you’re willing to take it if theres a middle man to ease your conscience.
